Klood is building an entirely new product that helps organizations to understand the narrative around their brands, competitors and industries. The role
You will be part of our new Data Science team and work on various projects to improve our product:
- Building and training classification models to improve the app experience.
- Mining and wrangling data from a variety of sources including news, forums, social networks in order to create the initial datasets for your experiments.
- Develop and implement new unsupervised method and visualization techniques to explore massive amount of data.
- Perform ad-hoc analyses for our clients.
The technologies
Our data is primarily stored in Elasticsearch and a small number of structured databases. You’ll use languages such as Python to create proof-of-concepts in a way that it is easy for our engineering team to understand and develop further (our app is built on Java and AngularJS).
About you
- You like using data to tell stories
- You are inquisitive and get excited about trying to extract meaning from large data sets spanning traditional and social web media
- You are equally comfortable working with technical and non-technical people, and enjoy helping others understand the magic of what you’ve discovered
- You can build robust technical “proofs-of-concepts” and then help the engineering team to turn them into production-ready code
- You have a degree in quantitative or related field including economics, physics, math, statistics, chemistry, biology, neuroscience, linguistics, computer science, engineering, or business analytics
- You have real world experience with a broad range of methods: Machine Learning, NLP and predictive models
- You are proficient with Python (i.e. matplotlip, scipy, numpy, pandas, scikit-learn) or equivalent for data modeling
- You are proficient with big data tools and frameworks (Spark, Hadoop, Pig/Hive)
- You’re based in Canada or UK
