Why Product Managers need to have some fire in their belly

Product managers are often mandated to be the glue for a team – people who can set the vision for their internal community and lead them towards a common goal.

However product managers need to have a personality, some fire that drives them towards their end vision.

  • Have some fire. Be Unstoppable.
  • Be a force of nature. Be a Shark.
  • Have some personality.

More often than not, I’ve seen Product people who go through their humdrum office existence — they’re scared to speak up, jittery to take charge of a failing situation, don’t ask enough questions nor often, have resigned to the processes that befall them, aren’t proactive enough to lead, always wait for someone else to tell them what to do.

A Product Manager, by the very nature of their job, cannot hide behind their team. They need to show some insanity towards their craft, towards their customers and the job they’re trying to solve.
